Wake to the sound of tui and bellbirds from our private bush and neighbouring conservation reserve. It is quiet, secluded, with volcano, rural and Raurimu Spiral views. Just 20 minutes to Whakapapa ski field and the start of the Tongariro Alpine Crossing, we make an ideal base for all summer and winter activities in the Tongariro World Heritage and Whanganui River areas.
Wood Pigeon Lodge offers three options of accommodation.
The Barn is our largest lodge. A converted barn on four levels, it is set in a peaceful, rural environment. A wood-stove warmly heats its open-plan design. It sleeps eight in comfort with a maximum of eleven.
Our smaller lodge is The Hut which is styled like a back country shepherds' hut. It sleeps two to four. The Hut has stunning views of all three volcanoes (Tongariro, Ngauruhoe and Ruapehu). It has one main room with an attached bathroom heated by a wood-stove.
Our third and newest addition is
The Tree House. It sleeps 5 and has spectacular views of New Zealand’s native forest, our 3 beautiful volcanoes and the Tepure stream far below.
We are just 2 minutes from the nearest café and bar, and 5 minutes for ski-hire at National Park Village. When you book The Barn, The Hut or the Tree House, the whole building is yours; no other guests will be sharing your facilities.
