Te Araroa is a tapestry of diverse landscapes, from sandy beaches to rugged mountain passes, challenging singletrack to peaceful farm tracks, and even urban streets. Each section offers a unique adventure, ensuring you’ll never tire of the scenery.
Every year, over 2,000 passionate walkers take on the Te Araroa Trail which passes through the foot hills of the Dual Heritage Tongariro National Park. Take 5 and rejuvenate and replenish your self in the heart of the Tongariro Villages. Did you know we are the gateway to the Tongariro Alpine Crossing and the passing Village to the Wanganui River.
Manawatū and Whanganui
This section of Te Araroa travels from the mountains to the sea.
You cross over tussock, through bush and down a grand river, exposed to nature and all its elements.
There are two National Parks to savour – the Tongariro and the Whanganui. Both are dramatic and spiritual places with rich Māori and European history.
